How it works
Every match you play during the season can earn you points. Singles and doubles players alike accumulate points whether you win or lose, so get your regular season matches in to have a shot at a playoff bid!
Check the Colosseum Leaderboard on your player dashboard to track your standing.
There are two ways to qualify:
- Win your faction and you’ll earn an automatic playoff bid (as long as you've completed at least 4 matches). These players are marked with a Gladiator Ace icon on the leaderboard.
- The remaining playoff spots go to top point scorers at each skill level across the season.
Players are grouped into brackets by skill level and region, ensuring competitive matchups throughout.
Early Rounds (Rounds of 64 through Semifinals)
- Matches are scheduled by players and held at the higher-seeded player’s home court
- Players must coordinate timing with their opponent
- Only enter if you can commit to playing through the later rounds
Finals
- Chicago: Held in October at a centrally located site (date and location announced in advance)
- St. Louis: Finalists coordinate directly to choose a time and location
⏱️ Note on Travel:
Expect longer travel times—playoff matchups pull players from across your entire metro area. If you cannot commit to the travel, please opt out of the playoffs.
Playoff Points determine who qualifies for wildcards and how players are seeded.
- Points are accumulated across all your matches throughout the calendar year
- Points are weighted by your skill level (e.g. 70 raw points at 3.5 → 70 x 3.5 = 245 Playoff Points)
- If you move up a skill level, points at the higher level are worth more
Why Weighted Points?
- Higher-level competition should carry more weight when playoff brackets combine skill levels.
- It rewards players who progress to more challenging divisions during the season.
- Doubles Playoff Points are tracked by individual, not team—just like the ATP and WTA
- If you’ve played with multiple partners, your score may differ from theirs
- The partner with the higher point total gets first choice of playoff partner (must have played at least one match together)
- Coordinators will confirm pairings in September
- Each player must complete 4+ matches to be eligible (at league coordinator's discretion)
What if I am below the line but ranked the same as someone above the Projected Playoff Cutoff Line?
- It is very likely you will get an invite to play in the Colosseum Playoffs. We always have a handful of players that can't commit to playing. The best way to ensure you make the playoffs is to play all of your matches and finish strong!
The Colosseum Playoff Leaderboard is your live tracker for qualification
You'll see:
- Your total Playoff Points
- The projected playoff cutoff line based on the number of competitors currently in the race
Final draw sizes and cutoff points will be confirmed in September
